Sermorelin, brand name Geref, is a non-selective GH-Secretagogue and ghrelin receptor agonist. The potency of ghrelin stimulation can be compared to GHRP6 with less appetite stimulation properties of older derivatives but more than the newer derived peptide, Ipamorelin. Sermorelin binds to the ghrelin receptor, GHSR, in the brain stimulating the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. Besides the presence in the brain, GHSR can also be found in the gastrointestinal tract, heart, lungs, kidney, pancreas, immune cells, and adipose. Unlike Ipamorelin, this GH-Secretagogue peptide does release some volume of cortisol, prolactin, acetylcholine, and aldosterone.
